I recently spent a month in Northern Portugal and Galicia, Spain doing research to bring you out-of-the-way places you might not have found online or in other travel guides.
This is the second book in my series of highly personalized and in-depth travel books focusing on establishing base locations where you can immerse yourself in the local community, get to know people and travel to off the beaten track towns close by that you might not have found on your own.

Some of my favorite places we visited are only 45 minutes from Porto, Portugal, like GuimarĆ£es and Braga. I could have spent the whole month in these charming towns which offer the best historical places to explore and contemporary restaurants, hotels and museums. They also have beautiful parks, green spaces for hiking and feeling you can get away from tourists, crowds and traffic.
Travel will expand your thinking about the world, and help you meet new people who youā€™ll find are not that different than you are. Travel can bridge our differences and help us see we are more alike than we think. We can all use that feeling in these times of separation and distrust of one another.
